Under TPI 2053669/2, Volkswagen addresses the customer statement that in some situations the Grand California does not come out of the 3. shifts down to 2nd gear.
This is not a mistake, but a quote: “For reasons of comfort, the downshift from 3rd gear to 2nd gear is not used in certain driving situations. The torque converter with open torque converter lock-up clutch ensures the flow of power even at low speeds in 3rd gear.”
No action is required by the user or the workshop.
