Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has issued a supplement to the owner’s manual for Grand California model with model years 03.2019 – 06.2022.
Unfortunately, due to German copyright law, we are not allowed to publish the instructions here.
However, the official customer information in the run of words:
As part of internal series monitoring and ongoing quality checks, elevated levels of interior immissions have been detected on vehicles in the Grand California 600 and 680. Individual customer complaints regarding unpleasant odors have been received by service partners in this connection. The indoor immissions are caused by odor-perceptible vapors from plastic components. After about one year (vehicle age), these vapors have subsided and are usually no longer perceptible.
These evaporations are highest when new in conjunction with high temperatures and decrease over time. Extensive studies have shown that temporary vapors do not pose a health risk; at most, temporary discomfort may occur in extreme cases. This can be prevented by regular ventilation. Please refer to the further instructions enclosed with this letter (insert for the logbook). If you have any further questions, please contact our customer hotline at +495361 9 76100 or [email protected].
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and hope for your understanding.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles recommends airing the vehicle regularly.
