Many people don’t want to wash their Grand California by hand and therefore drive through the car wash. We, on the other hand, are totally Team Hand Wash, and you could write a whole book about the pros and cons.
Whether team car wash or hand wash, a paint sealant is always worthwhile, the paint is better protected against dirt and other influences such as flash rust.
We also became aware of Meguiar’s ceramic sealant through a recommendation. The Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Car Wax sealant is special in that it is very easy to apply and does not require hours of exposure or application. After washing the vehicle, the sealant is applied with an application pad and wiped off again with a microfiber cloth after a reaction time of 5 minutes. That’s it.
It took us 1.5 hours to complete the entire Grand California, including the roof. We think that’s not a bad time for a complete sealing job and the result is impressive.
For the entire vehicle, we needed about half of the 473 milliliter bottle, at a price of 25 euros that Uncle Amazon raises, so just 12.50 euros. That’s perfectly fair, and here’s the best part of the whole thing: after the last trip of around 800 kilometers, the unwashed Grand California, driven through rain, looks like this:
How long the sealant will last in detail remains to be seen. But we are definitely impressed and will buy the sealant again once it has been used up.
