Gadget Day – Solo Stove

After our Scandinavian vacation in late summer 2021, we really wanted to make campfires at home, or in Germany on our tours.

Fire in Germany a brief overview

Germany is a country of regulations, and unfortunately that also applies to fire. Legally, each state, na even each municipality may set its own rules on whether and under what conditions a fire is allowed. There are even times in which a fire is allowed or not. That is really typical German!

Open or closed fire – what’s the difference?

An open fire is defined as follows:

“Open fire is a flame that is outside a closed combustion chamber.”

Say a classic campfire 🔥, which is built on the ground, such as in our picture from Norway.

These types of fires require permits virtually everywhere. If it is a private property, the situation is somewhat different, but even here there are clear rules about how large a fire may be.

A good solution and e.g. in NRW not subject to approval are so-called cosy fires. This is a non-open fire, for example, in a fire bowl with a diameter of less than one meter.

Solo Stove – our fireplace

Since fire bowls are far less problematic, we looked around for a mobile fire bowl to be able to make fire on the road as flexibly and legally as possible. Here we came across the Solo Stove Ranger, a stainless steel fire barrel. It fits perfectly in the Cali and can be unloaded without any problems.

Solo Stove Ranger has a diameter of 38 cm and a height of just over 42 cm, its weight is 7 kg.

In addition to the actual fire barrel, Solo Stove also offers various accessories, such as a grill attachment. Thus, strictly speaking, you save an extra grill. As you can see, the arguments for a Solo Stove are growing and you can’t say no anymore. But wait, there is one more feature that makes Solo Stove unbeatable. If you make a fire in it, it will not smoke!

Now you’re thinking, this can’t work. What can we say: It really works! 🤯 If the Solo Stove is used correctly, you can finally sit around the campfire without having to constantly change your place because you are sitting in the smoke.

Since Solo Stove is a company from the USA, I have unfortunately found no official promotional video in German, but I think the pictures explain quite well how the whole works smoke-free.

Don’t panic, even though Solo Stove itself comes from the USA, there is of course German support and the Stove is offered on Amazon.

If you want to support us, you can order the Solo Stove through our Amazon affiliate link 😊

See for yourself how great a fire burns in the Solo Stove 🔥😌
