We have had a Reich camper scale in the hall for some time now. Never really tried it, we spontaneously decided to test it today.
We hopped on the calibrated scale with our Cali to the local Raiffeisen Market. Now, after all the modifications, we finally know what it weighs and can check the accuracy of the Reich camper scale at the same time.
The initial situation
The calibrated scale weighed our Grand California with one occupant, full tanks (water, diesel, AdBlue) and everything on board needed for a complete weekend at 3780 kilos.
So now you could assume that the Reich scale is showing something in that range. Reich gives the tolerance as three percent, which means in numbers the scale should read no less than 3666 and no more than 3893 kilos. At this point, you can already see how much three percent can be.
The weighing
The weighing process with the Reich scale is relatively simple. Switch on the scale and then drive over the scale with each wheel individually. The scale then calculates the sum of the measured values. I won’t even go into the exact operation at this point, because a spoiler beforehand, it wouldn’t be worth the reading time.
You can see the complete process here in the video:

Conclusion
The Reich scale actually does not deserve the name scale, you could also say camp estimate. Even in several runs, we could not achieve a measurement result that even came close to the calibrated result.
If you really want to know the weight of your camper, you should go to a decent scale and nothing else.
Ps: Anyone interested in a realm camper scale? We would have to give away one cheap 😂😂😂
