Every Grand California owner knows the game, you come back to the campsite in the evening after a trip, it’s dark, you unlock the car and bang, you’re blind. 🫣 The exterior light of the Cali is simply far too bright and unfortunately cannot be dimmed like the interior lights.
Dimmer from Car Electric
We have been looking for a dimmer ourselves from time to time and there is a large selection in Jeff’s department store or in the bay. However, no dimmer could be easily installed in the Cali without breaking anything.
The situation is different with the dimmer from Car Eletric, which is simply clamped between the original lamp connection = plug and play.
Installation is completed in five minutes and can be reversed at any time if necessary. The best thing about it is that you don’t even need a tool 😊🥳
The lamp cable is located behind the panel above the entrance on the sliding door. The cover is attached with 3M Dual Lock adhesive tape and can be easily removed.
Once you have removed the cladding, you can already see the plug connection between the vehicle and the exterior light. Simply disconnect the plug and plug the dimmer in between, done!
Once installed, you have three brightness levels to choose from, which can be selected using the switch on the kitchen unit. We have summarized the whole thing in a video:
